How to Clean?
How to Clean and Care for Your Soccer Jersey
Proper care keeps your jersey looking new season after season. Follow these simple steps to protect its colors, print, and fabric.
The Essential Wash Cycle
- Pre-treat Stains: Gently apply a mild stain remover or liquid detergent to stains. Gently rub with your fingers. Let it sit for a few minutes before washing..
- Turn Inside Out: This protects the external prints and colors from friction and helps remove sweat and oil.
- Wash Cold & Gentle: Always use a cold water cycle (<30°C / 86°F) and a gentle cycle to prevent fading and damage.
- Use Mild Detergent: Choose a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Harsh chemicals damage the fabric and prints.
- Air Dry Flat: Lay your jersey flat or hang it to dry. Never use a tumble dryer, as the heat will damage the adhesive on letters and numbers.
Dealing With Peeling Letters
If the letters or numbers on your jersey begin to peel:
- Stop: Do not pull on them.
- Assess: Check if it's a small area or widespread.
- Apply Heat-Activated Letters: Heat-activated letters are commonly used to fix peeling letters on a soccer jersey. Position the new letters on the jersey and cover them with clean & non-stick plastic paper or stencil, iron it with 150C° in 7-8 seconds. This will activate the adhesive on the back of the letters and securely attach them to the fabric.
- Allow Time to Set: After applying the heat-activated letters, allow them to set and cool completely before wearing or washing the jersey. Follow any additional instructions provided by the manufacturer for the best results.
*Extra Care Tips
Store in a cool, Dry Place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
Handle with Care: Be mindful of jewelry, bags, and sharp objects that can snag the fabric.
Use a Garment Bag: For extra protection, wash your jersey inside a mesh garment bag.
Never Iron Directly: If ironing is needed, turn the jersey inside out and use a very low heat setting.
